1. Bell Quiz #1

a. Go to the following link and complete the bell quiz:

a. Eight Parts of Speech and Labeling Final Review

b. The Famous "Magic Grammar Sheet" Review
c. Open the following copy of the Magic Grammar Sheet:

d. Discuss and share the key points of the sheet as a class.

3. Vocabulary List #201-210 (New Words)

a. Continue to study this week's word list.

b. Bell Quiz next class on 201-210!

4. Reading and Summarizing

a. Read pages 14-26 in The Rent Collector

b. Complete the reading and then in your Reading Log do the following two things:

          1. A summary- A paragraph summarizing the key points 
                  and events.

          2. A response - A paragraph responding to the things that
                  occurred in the reading. What do you think?

5. Close Reading and Discussion

a. Introduction to close reading and SOAPSTone reading.

b. Download, make a copy, and rename the SOAPSTone sheet according to the following example:

c. Open another tab and click on the following link:

     The Gettysburg Address

d. Read "The Gettysburg Address" by Abraham Lincoln according to the close reading (SOAPSTone) expectations and fill out the worksheet as you read.
