Today's Tasks

1. Next Year Scheduling... 

a. During class, the administration and counselors will be pulling you out of class to schedule for next year.
b. If you have any concerns about the schedule you built with your advisor, be prepared to share it with the administration or counselors.

2. Check Grades

a. Today is your last day to check and finalize 3rd Quarter Grades... please see me if there are any problems.

3. Finish Presentations:

a. We will finish the group presentations. 
b. These will go on 3rd Quarter Grades

3. Homework

a. Continue to read your Home Reading Book for March.
b. Be ready to start 4th Quarter Next Class.

1. Using Powerpoint/Prezi Correctly

a. The dangers of creating "Death by Powerpoint"

b. How to avoid boring presentations:

          1. Watch the following video:

                          Avoiding Death by Powerpoint

          2. My Example: The Emmitt Till Story

2. Work on Your Group Presentation

a. The final presentation must have the following:

          1. At least 10 slides
          2. 1st Slide as an Introduction Slide
          3. At least 8 body slides with very little writing and mostly 
              images for visual aid purposes.
          4. Avoid bad powerpoint habits as described in class.
          5. A conclusion slide must end with a "call for questions"

3. Vocabulary

a. Know all vocabulary words for the quarter (201-300)

b. Complete the reading and then in your Reading Log do the following two things:

          1. A summary- A paragraph summarizing the key points 
                  and events.

          2. A response - A paragraph responding to the things that
                  occurred in the reading. What do you think?
c. Submit your Full Reading Log for The Rent Collector to the following link:

b. Once you finish the First Draft... reread it as a group and clean up as many issues as you can.

4. Writing the Essay

a. If the group has not started writing, here are the following steps to start and complete the first draft:
b. The team leader will create a Google Doc titled Group Argumentation Essay.
c. The team leader will share the Google Doc with all members of the group.

d. As a group begin to draft the essay. 1st Draft will be due at the beginning of next class.
